OPINION

HATHAWAY, Judge.

This appeal is taken from the trial court’s denial of petitioner/appellant husband’s re*448quest for a modification of spousal maintenance. The parties were divorced in 1978 and the final decree of dissolution stated in paragraph two of the court’s order:

“The Petitioner, CHARLES EDWIN KELLER, is assigned and awarded as his sole and separate property the following: a. The gross retirement income from the United States Air Force; including cost of living increases;”

Paragraph five of the order read:

“Petitioner shall pay to Respondent as and for spousal maintenance or alimony…
