A jury found the defendant, Heriberto Cruz, guilty of five counts of sexual assault in the first degree in violation of General Statutes (Rev. to 1991) § 53a-70 (a) (2)1 and two counts of risk of injury to a child in violation of General Statutes (Rev. to 1991) *3§ 53-21,2 arising from two separate informations that were consolidated for trial. The trial court thereafter rendered judgments in accordance with the jury’s verdicts and sentenced the defendant to a total effective term of imprisonment of twenty-two years, execution suspended after seventeen years, and five years…
