Appellant Areece Manley was indicted by a Ramsey County grand jury and subsequently convicted by a Ramsey County jury of first-degree murder in violation of Minn.Stat. § 609.185(a)(6) (2002), Minnesota’s domestic abuse murder statute, and second-degree intentional murder in violation of Minn.Stat. § 609.19, subd. 1(1) (2002), for the November 5, 2000, death of his girlfriend, Latisha Froysland.
