Inmate David Morris sued prison officials under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 for alleged retaliation against him for exercising his First Amendment right to use the prison grievance system. The district court determined that prisoners bringing such claims must allege more than a de minim-is retaliatory act to establish a constitutional violation. Finding that the retaliation alleged by Morris did not pass this bar, the court granted the defendants’ motion for summary judgment, from which Morris appeals.
