HARRIS, Associate Judge:

Appellant was found guilty by a jury of two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (D.C.Code 1973, § 22-502) and one count of cruelty to a child (D.C. Code 1973, § 22-901). 1 Consecutive sentences of imprisonment were imposed. Appellant challenges: (1) the failure of the United States Attorney to refer the matter to the Director of Social Services as an intrafamily offense; (2) the admission of certain evidence relating to a prior assault by appellant on the same child; and (3) the imposition of consecutive sentences for acts which allegedly were components of a…
