This case arises out of Norse and Lydia Booker's purchase of a hospitalization insurance policy issued by United American Insurance Company ("United American"). The Bookers allege that they purchased the policy only after James Butcher made various misrepresentations to them. Butcher was not an authorized insurance agent of United American, but had been hired by Richard Stone, an agent of that company, despite United American's express directions to the contrary.
