On the 4th day of July, 1840, James Armstrong, in consideration of one dollar to him in hand paid by John Q,. Thompson, of love and affection for his daughter, Mary F. Couch, and for other good and sufficient consideration thereunto moving from James D. Couch, (as the deed recites it,) conveyed to said ■Thompson a female slave, Esther, and her two children “Frances and Sam,” in trust for the use of his said daughter, MaryF.
