The plaintiff, a young matron, was riding in the front seat of an automobile, which was being driven by a gentleman friend, going east upon Union turnpike, Jamaica. To the right of the car, in the direction in which it was proceeding, there is the defendant golf course. Union turnpike runs east to west, and is a much-frequented arterial highway. The southerly edge of the course abuts the turnpike, and is lined by a wire fence about six feet high, located about twenty-five feet south of the roadway.
