[1] This case arises on a final hearing of a bill in equity on pleadings and proofs, charging the defendant with infringement of letters patent of the United States No. 714,651, dated November 25, 1902, for a new and useful improvement in recording and reproducing sounds. The patentee in his specification states that the invention relates to the art of recording and reproducing sounds, and that its object is to obtain complete and accurate records and reproductions of articulate speech and of all other sounds, practically the same in volume and tone-color as tire…
