In September, 1913, appellee, Valentine Sierzchula, was in the employ of appellant as a section hand working on its double track roadbed between Borneo and Lemont, two stations on its Joliet and Chicago line. He was about 68 years old, an experienced section hand, and had been working for appellant on that line several months. On a Monday morning he, with 6 other members of his gang’, went on a hand car to a point near a small bridge to continue work ballasting the track.
