This case is before the Court upon the appeal of Johnny Miller from a November 14, 1989 final order of the Circuit Court of Raleigh County where the appellant was sentenced to life imprisonment without mercy based upon an August 4, 1989 jury verdict. The appellant was found guilty of the first degree murder of his girlfriend Lorelei Reed and no recommendation of mercy was made by the jury. The appellant contends that the following errors were committed by the trial court:
