This case presents the issue whether knowledge that the intended victim is a federal officer is a requisite for the crime of conspiracy, under 18 U. S. C. § 371, to com*673mit an offense violative of 18 U. S. C. § 111,1 that is, an assault upon a federal officer while engaged in the performance of his official duties.
