Defendant appeals from a judgment entered following a jury verdict of guilty of violating Penal Code section 4500 (assault with a deadly weapon by life prisoner). He seeks reversal on two grounds: (1) He was denied effective assistance of counsel at the trial, and (2) the trial judge was guilty of prejudicial misconduct.
