On this appeal the facts are stipulated. On the night of July 30, 1943, defendant was arrested for speeding in the city of Detroit. The arresting officers searched him and found a knife with a single folding blade 3 inches long concealed in his right hip pocket. He was charged with carrying “a dangerous weapon, to-wit, a knife, # * * concealed on or about his person” in violation of section 227 of the penal code (Act No. 328, § 227, Pub. Acts 1931 [Comp.
