These appeals challenge the bankruptcy court’s resolution of an issue at the intersection of federal bankruptcy and Maine family law.

Sometime after his wife, appellant Laurie Davis, had sued him for divorce in the Maine state district court, Thomas Cox, the cross-appellant, filed for bankruptcy in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maine.
