In a trial before the court in an assumpsit suit, there was a finding for plaintiff and damages were assessed at $2,997.50. From a judgment for that amount defendants have appealed.

Defendants are investment bankers and brokers, doing business in Chicago. Plaintiff bank is located at Taylorsville, Kentucky. .In April, 1929, E. A. Reid, its cashier, purchased, through the defendants, 100 shares of Sinclair Oil stock for $4,004.27. Defendants then drew a draft on Reid for that amount and deposited it, with the certificate for the stock attached, in the Continental Illinois Bank & Trust Company,…
