Chieno Orman was granted a writ of habeas corpus regarding his conviction of second-degree murder and resulting life sentence without possibility of parole. The district court held that the state had breached its duty under Brady v. Maryland, 373 U.S. 83, 87, 83 S.Ct. 1194, 10 L.Ed.2d 215 (1963), to disclose exculpatory evidence and that Orman’s guilty plea violated North Carolina v.
