On or about November 7, 1896, G. W. Rhoades, then employed as a section hand by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company, received an injury, while assisting in replacing on the track a derailed freight car on the Cabin .Creek branch of said railroad, which necessitated the amputation of one of his legs, on the 27th day of December, following.
