Anthony Lewis is a physician specializing in cardiology. This case concerns a contract between Lewis and Methodist Hospital in which Methodist agreed to provide billing services for Lewis’s cardiology practice. Disputes arose over Methodist’s handling of its responsibilities under the contract, which in the end caused the parties to end their relationship. Invoking the diversity jurisdiction of the federal courts, Lewis (acting in his individual capacity) then sued Methodist for breach of contract and tortious interference with prospective advantage in business.…
