Defendant is before the court on two matters: a motion to quash the indictments, and an application and supplemental application for a writ of habeas corpus.

STATEMENT OF THE CASE

On August 29, 1970, in Fairmount Park near Sixty-third Street and Cobbs Creek Parkway, Philadelphia, one police officer was shot and wounded and another shot and killed. In the ensuing investigation the police questioned and obtained signed statements from Marie Williams and Jerry Joyner.
