Plowden H. Ball brought an action of debt against Charles W. Boynton, at the September term, 1877, of the circuit court of Stephenson county, to recover the amount of a decree which had been rendered in the circuit court of that county several years prior to the commencement- of the action. At the following April term, 1878, of the court, .the defendant, by his attorney, filed a plea of the general issue.
