Defendant Melvin A. Bruney's ("Bruney") motion for a judgment of acquit.tal and a new trial raises three issues for consideration: a) whether, under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) (1976 & Supp. 1994), the government proved that the defendant received the firearm in question in the District of the Virgin Islands after he had been convicted of a felony; b) whether there is a crime of attempted murder in the second degree under Virgin Islands law; and c) whether the clause "during the commission or attempted commission of a crime of violence," as used in V.I.
