This is an action on a promissory note given by the defendant to Hibbard Brothers Company; by that company indorsed to the Houlton Trust Company, and by it indorsed to the plaintiff. The form of the note is as follows :

“$600.00 Houlton, Me.

July 18, 1922

For Vallie Received, I hereby sell and convey to Hibbard Bros. Co., his heirs, and assigns, the following described property, to wit: One five passenger Mitchell car, Number 4229.

And promise to pay to the order of Hibbard Bros. Co., the sum of Six hundred and no/100 Dollars, as follows: Payable at $5.00 a week with interest at eight percent…
