The defendants in this case, Clarence Norman and Jeffrey Feldman, respectively, the chairman and the executive director of the Kings County Democratic Committee (the Party), are *796jointly charged in a 22-count indictment with various counts and degrees of grand larceny by extortion and attempted grand larceny by extortion, coercion and attempted coercion, and conspiracy to commit those crimes.
