Plaintiff Conrad Maitland sued in Wayne County Circuit Court seeking reinstatement as a student in good standing at defendant Wayne State University Medical School. In an order dated August 2, 1976, reinstatement was granted and defendant appeals.

The facts of the case are complicated and critical to the ultimate disposition of the matter. The first two years of defendant’s medical school are divided into several distinct sections, or "units”.
