After a jury trial, Norman Jackson (Defendant) was convicted of the class A misdemeanors of third-degree assault of a law enforcement officer and resisting a lawful detention. See §§ 565.083, 575.150. 1 On appeal, Defendant contends the trial court erred in denying his motion to compel the custodian of records for the Springfield Police Department (SPD) to release a document containing a written description of the event by the officer who was involved.
