This is an appeal by the defendant, Eddie Brawley, from a judgment of the circuit court of St. Clair County entered upon his plea of guilty to the offense of theft in excess of $150. The defendant was sentenced to not less than 1 nor more than 3 years imprisonment.

The defendant contends that the trial court failed to comply with Supreme Court Rule 402 before accepting his plea of guilty and that the trial court abused its discretion in denying his application for probation.
