The plaintiff resided at Steele in Pemiscot County, Missouri. He engaged, over a period of many years, in the mercantile business in that county and as a buyer and dealer in cotton, raising, buying and selling cotton. For several years he also owned and operated a cotton gin. Defendant, W.A. Gage and Company, Incorporated, is a nonresident or foreign corporation, incorporated under the laws of the State of Tennessee authorized and engaged in carrying on the business of a cotton factor or merchant with its office and place of business at Memphis, Tennessee.
