OPINION
JULIA SMITH GIBBONS, Circuit Judge.
Over the course of two trials, state court juries in Livingston County, Kentucky convicted Karl Kraus, Jr., on charges of first-degree rape, sodomy, and sexual abuse involving two mentally delayed women. He is now serving a prison sentence of seventy years with a life enhancement. After exhausting his direct appeals and pursuing a motion for post-conviction relief in the Kentucky courts, Kraus filed two pro se petitions for a writ of habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254 in federal district court.
