Platte Valley Auto Mart, Inc. (Auto Mart), loaned Jenny Wichelt a 1988 Dodge Aries K while her own car was being repaired. While in Wichelt’s custody, the loaner car was damaged to the extent of $5,581.79. Auto Mart’s insurer, Universal Underwriters Insurance Company, plaintiff-appellant, paid Auto Mart for the damage and sought to subrogate against Wichelt’s insurer, Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Nebraska, defendant-appellee, in the district court for Dawson County.
