Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Chemung County (Danaher, Jr., J.), rendered October 20, 1986, upon a verdict convicting defendant of the crimes of rape in the first degree and sexual abuse in the first degree.

Defendant stands convicted of raping and sexually abusing by forcible compulsion a 29-year-old woman who has been essentially deaf and mute since age three.
