In the month of March, 1885, at the Spring Term of the Circuit Court held in’ and for the county of Manatee, Edmond P. Bacon, Louis L. Cato, Thomas Dryman and Adam W. Hunter, were indicted for the murder of one Harrison T. Riley, and Leonard E. Andrews, Jason L. Alford, Charles B. Willard, Joseph C. Anderson and Alfred B. Bidwell were indicted as accessories before the fact. At a special term of the court held on the fourteeth day of July, in the same year, such proceedings were had that there was severance of the defendants, and the court proceeded to try the defendants, Edmond P.
