OPINION

DUGGAN, District Judge.

Petitioner Robert Steele, Jr., presently confined at the Michigan Reformatory in Ionia, Michigan, seeks the issuance of a writ of habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254. In his pro se application, Petitioner challenges his conviction on one count of assault with intent to commit murder, Mich.Comp.Laws § 750.83, and one count of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, Mich.Comp.Laws § 750.227b.
