This appeal arises following the conviction of the defendant, Joseph Griffin, for the murder of Leo Williams. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1973, ch. 38, par. 9 — 1(a)(1).) Judgment was entered on the jury’s verdict of guilty and the defendant was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the penitentiary for not less than 20 years and not more than 40 years. The defendant claims that the Circuit Court of Cook County erred in not granting his motion to dismiss the indictment on the grounds that he was denied his right to a speedy trial in violation…
