HALYBURTON, District Judge.

In this case the libellants allege that certain goods were shipped on board the steamer Virginia at Philadelphia, to be carried thereon to Richmond, and there delivered, to the libellants in good order and condition, and that said goods were not so delivered, but were in a damaged state, for which compensation is claimed. To prove the delivery of the goods at Philadelphia, a bill of lading is offered as evidence, which purports to be signed by J. Cummings.
