These two actions were tried together. In the first the plaintiff sought damages for injuries suffered from a fall into a coal hole in a sidewalk adjoining land of the defendant ; and in the second her husband sought to recover damages for the loss of his wife’s services by reason of the fall. After a verdict for the plaintiff the case is before us upon exceptions taken by the defendant at the trial. The exceptions are the same in each case, and, since the second case must stand or fall with the first, we shall speak only of the first. No question seems to have been made about the plaintiff’s…
