1 *2312 *229On the sixteenth day of November, 1887, the defendant, a corporation, doing a life insurance business, organized, and having its principal place in the state of New York, issued a policy of insurance to the plaintiff, upon the life of her husband, Matthew Goodwin, agreeing to pay her, in the event of the death of the assured, on, or before noon, of the sixteenth day of February, 1888, the sum of five thousand dollars.
