At an election held in Cook county in November, 1899, Nathaniel C. Sears was elected one of the judges of the superior court of said county for a term of six years, ex-piling in December, 1905. At the time of his election the salary of a judge of said court had been fixed by law at $7000 per annum, $3500 of which was payable out of the State treasury and $3500 out of the county treasury.
