Plaintiffs sue in equity for alleged damages through loss of water taken by the Brooklyn waterworks system from the southern part of Nassau county. They charge that the withdrawal of the large volume of water at the defendant’s pumping stations af*232fects the surrounding country, so that the level of underground saturation or the “water table” beneath plaintiffs’ farms is lowered, reducing the moisture of the soils, making their lands dry, sterile, and unproductive.
