The state appeals from an order dismissing a criminal complaint against the defendant for *245child abuse. The issue on appeal is whether the complaint states probable cause to believe that the defendant violated sec. 940.201, Stats. We hold that it does, and reverse.

Section 940.201, Stats., provides:

Whoever tortures a child or subjects a child to cruel maltreatment, including, but not limited, to severe bruising, lacerations, fractured bones, burns, internal injuries or any injury constituting great bodily harm under s. 939.22 (14), is guilty of a Class E felony.
