Defendant, Doil Taylor, was convicted, on his guilty plea in 71-A District Court for the County of Lapeer, of attempted possession of gambling policy slips. MCL 750.306; MSA 28.538; MCL 750.92; MSA 28.287. Defendant was sentenced to 180 days in the county jail (to be served on weekends) and was ordered to pay $500 in fines and costs. Defendant then appealed to the circuit court claiming first that the subject statute was vague and overbroad and thus unconstitutional and second that reversible error occurred when the district judge accepted defendant’s guilty plea without explaining the…
