The plaintiff was engaged, at North Essington, Delaware county, Pennsylvania, in the business of enameling leather for its own use, and for trade purposes. It applied for insurance on its stock, machinery and byproducts, to Clarke & Cortis, insurance agents and brokers of New York city, and employed them as its brokers to place $17,000 of insurance on the named property.
