The plaintiff, Perry Harrington, appeals from judgments in favor of the defendants, Guaranty National Insurance Company and its parent company, Landmark American National Insurance Company, Inc.

Harrington sued the defendants on claims of "bad faith" refusal to pay an uninsured motorist ("UM") claim and breach of contract. Uderlying this lawsuit was Harrington's 1990 involvement in a vehicle accident. At the time of that accident, Harrington was driving a tractor-trailer truck owned by his employer, T. M.
