This one-count breach of contract action, based on Maryland law and timely removed from state court to this court on the basis of diversity of citizenship, arises out a contest between two former wives of a decedent, Randall Lee Underwood (“the insured”), for the proceeds of a life insurance policy issued to the insured by defendant Massachusetts General Life Insurance Company (“Mass General,” which is the predecessor-in-interest of defendants Conseco Service, LLC, and Conseco Life Insurance Company, all three of which will be referred to jointly as “the…
