On January 27, 2010, the State of Alabama, on behalf of M.E.C. (“the mother”), filed a complaint pursuant to the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act, § 30-3A-101 et seq., Ala.Code 1975 (“UIFSA”), in the Madison Juvenile Court against B.E.H., Jr. (“the father”). The complaint, as subsequently amended, sought to register for enforcement a judgment entered in 1978 by a Texas court divorcing the mother and the father (“the Texas divorce judgment”).
