Brasher brought this suit to recover the sum of $16,659.43, representing the balance allegedly due for work done under a contract to construct a sewer system for the city of Alexandria. The facts upon which the claim is predicated are as follows:
On July 29, 1942, the parties entered into a written contract obligating Brasher to furnish “all material and labor and construction complete of an extension of the municipal sanitary sewer system of the city of Alexandria, Louisiana, War Public Works Project Docket No. La. 16-116” for the sum of $161,641.23.
