ANDERSON, PAUL H., Justice.
A Dakota County jury found appellant Thanh Tran guilty of first-degree premedi tated murder and second-degree intentional murder for the shooting death of Dao Xiong. The district court convicted Tran of first-degree premeditated murder and sentenced him to life in prison. On appeal, Tran alleges that the court erred when it admitted evidence of the existence of a large insurance policy on the victim’s life and of the financial difficulties and gambling habits of the victim’s wife.
