INTRODUCTION

The State appeals the decision of the district court for Douglas County which granted Michael L. Robinson’s motion for absolute discharge based on a violation of his constitutional right to a speedy trial.

FACTUAL AND PROCEDURAL BACKGROUND

On February 12, 2002, the State filed a complaint in the county court for Douglas County alleging that Robinson had committed first degree assault on or about February 11.
