Kentucky Rule of Evidence (KRE) 615 permits a party in any proceeding to which that rule applies to demand that persons who will testify during the proceeding be excluded from the courtroom “so that they cannot hear the testimony of other witnesses.” The Rule is subject to certain exceptions, including an exception for “a person whose .presence is shown by a party to be essential to the presentation of the party’s case.”1 We granted discretionary review in this medical malpractice matter to consider whether the trial court properly applied the “essential…
