I. INTRODUCTION

This diversity action concerns a controversial topic in American academia: The movement to boycott Israeli academic institutions. Plaintiffs are current and former members of the American Studies Association ("ASA"), a nonprofit, charitable corporation dedicated to promoting the study of American culture.
